Enterprise Week 2020
Allanson Street Enterprise Week
The last week of Spring 1 saw us undertaking a fabulous Enterprise Week across school.
During the week, the children in each year group worked within a budget to design, manufacture and advertise products to sell at our Allanson Street Market Place.
On Thursday 13th February, our market place was open throughout the day for children in each class to go along and buy their favourite products. Parents and carers were also invited in to see the amazing goods that their children had produced. At the end of the day, takings were counted and the winning classes (those who had made the most profit) were announced.
A huge well done to our winning year groups! Year 1 managed to make a whopping £109.30 profit, whilst Year 5 made a fantastic £105.69.
In total, we made £520.40 profit. As the winners, Years 1 and 5 got to decide which charities would benefit.
Year 1 decided to split their share of the profits between sponsoring a polar bear through the WWF and the St.Helens branch of the RSPCA whilst Year 5 used their money to buy plants and trees which will be planted at St.Peter’s Church in Parr.
A huge thank you and well done to all of our children and staff who pulled out all the stops to create and run our amazing Enterprise Market. Our hall looked sensational!
By the end of the week, the children had learned all about Fair Trade and enjoyed making and advertising some great products whilst learning how to calculate costings and profit. Most importantly they had lots of fun with maths and realised how important maths is in everyday life.
