Week Commencing 29th June 2020

Hello Everyone!

Below is an overview of what we will be learning about this week:

Home learning Week 10 Early Years 29.6.20-(A Word file)

Personal, Social and Emotional

Everywhere the pirates went, other people seemed to think they were bad!  But they didn’t give up and continued to show others that they are kind.

Have you achieved something after not giving up? Maybe you can now ride your bike, tie your shoe laces or zip your coat up? Share your achievements on your portfolios!

This week our story is ‘The Pirates Next Door’.  Click on the link to take your to the story.

Have a go at creating your own 8 page book to retell the story!  Follow the link to take you to an easy way to make the books.

Create a list of good qualities that the pirates have! You could then create a letter to persuade everyone why they are good people?

The pirates have just moved to England and need to understand our Lockdown rules! Can you write a list of rules what the pirates are allowed to do now?!

Expressive Arts and Design:

This is the song ‘We Will Rock You!’

Can you clap different rhythms whilst saying positive things about the pirates? e.g, ‘We are clean, we are tidy’.

Physical Development:

It’s cosmic yoga time! This week we will be looking at ‘Squish the Fish’.  Click on the link to take you to the Cosmic Yoga session.

Communication and Language:

Click on the link to take you to the Pobble 365 website:

If you had the chance to go on an island adventure and could only take 3 things, what would you take? Who would you choose to go with you and why?

Where do you think this island might be?

Nugget liked playing with cannon balls on the boat.  Are they suitable toys? They are a good shape to play with though! Do you know what the shape is?

Click on the link to take you to a nice espresso video clip about solid shapes.

Would any of these shapes be good for Nugget to use as cannon balls?

Can you create your own numbered target to throw the “cannon balls” to? Can you add up your totals to find how many points you got?

Lockdown has been difficult for everyone, including pirates! What things have you and your family missed during Lockdown?

Create your own block graph to record your votes.

Understanding the World:

Jim Lad’s original home was a little different to the house the family moved into.  It will feel very strange for him to be living in a house as it would the children living on a boat!

Click on the link to take you to a nice clip on different homes.

What type of home would you like to live in? What different shapes might you find on your dream house?

Science – Enquiry time!

Seeing as our leaf detective activity proved quite popular a few weeks ago, we now have another nature inspired challenge!

Can you identify birds in your garden or on a local walk?

Use our handy bird spotting guide to help you!

See our guidance sheet for more information.
