WINNERS!

Well done to our amazing School Council for winning the ‘Sustainable Schools Award’ during the Liverpool Echo Environment Awards recently.

Representatives from the Council attended a lovely evening to celebrate the environmental successes of many regional groups, schools and businesses. In the school’s category, we were up against some very tough competition including a bee keeping club from Liverpool. Despite this, our School Council were announced the winners and special praise was given to our efforts in reducing plastic waste around school including replacing single use plastic straws with more environmentally friendly options. Praise was also given for the breadth of daily recycling we undertake which includes the recycling of paper, card, plastic and metal as well as composting fruit and vegetable waste. The School Council plan to resubmit a new application next year with even more BIG GREEN plans in a bid to win the award for the second time on the run!
