Exploring Place Value

Throughout the Autumn term we have been exploring two-digit numbers and thinking about their place value. We have used lots of resources to make numbers such as 45, 76, 83, 21 and discussed which number is more / less, greater than / less than, smallest / largest, etc.  We know how to split the numbers into ‘tens’ and ‘ones’ and how to use this information to order a set of numbers.

Numbers are all around us in our everyday lives. Please help your child continue to develop their number skills by spotting numbers on house doors, shopping price labels, etc and ask them questions to discuss which number is more than / less than. Ask your child to explain ‘How do you know……..?’.
