Re-opening of school – 4th January

Dear Parent / Carer,

I am writing with an update regarding the re-opening of school tomorrow. I would first like to offer my sincerest apologies for the lateness of this message as I am aware of the disruption it will cause some families.

As you are undoubtedly aware through the media, there has been lots of activity from different unions following which they have issued advice that has had a significant impact on the numbers of staff attending school tomorrow.

From Monday 4th January, the following year groups WILL BE OPEN as usual:

Y1 (Miss Ellis’ class only) and both classes in Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.

From Monday 4th January, the following classes WILL ONLY BE OPEN TO CHILDREN OF CRITICAL WORKERS:

Nursery, Reception and Y1JG.
Breakfast and After School Club will also be closed.

I fully understand that this is going to be incredibly inconvenient and upsetting but, at the moment, despite my best efforts, I simply am not able to staff these classes or clubs.

If your child is in Nursery, Reception and Y1JG, there will be daily access to remote learning. Your child’s class teacher will be in touch about this at the start of the day tomorrow.

Children of critical workers will be taught in a small group in their own bubbles. The only change to their current provision will be that EYFS will form one small bubble.

I apologise profusely for this disruption. Please be assured that I am doing my very best to try to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum for our children whilst also ensuring that no compromises are made regarding their safety. I will do everything I can to get all children back to school (and in breakfast and ASC) as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me via direct message.

Take care,
Mrs Dingsdale
